The University of Chicago Consortium on School Research is an academic research-based group that explores ways to improve the public school experience and build capacity for student success. The Consortium came to us to explore using human-centered design as a way to bridge their traditional academic research with actionability within Chicago Public Schools.
What we found was that teachers are hungry to learn but feel overwhelmed. They want bite-sized, just-in-time teaching tips from a trusted source. And, they need a system for their own reflection that can lead to better co-teaching partnerships and self-awareness. The Consortium is prototyping and testing this new strategy and tool among grantmakers and prospective school district partners across the county.
